Three Movies and running...

So it was three movies and running! I think I have finally rediscovered my interest in movies. And what a movie marathon it was. Started with a Tamil movie, Kakha Kakha (not sure what it means), about an episode in the life of a Police office (at least that is what the sub title says). A nice movie that I felt was realistic and I did enjoy every bit of it. It is a movie that gives the villain almost an equal part as the Hero and that is something I miss in most movies I watch. So this is a movie I highly recommend. The next was Iqbal, the movie about the deaf and dumb person who makes it to the cricket National team. An inspiring, feel-good movie with a predictable ending. Highly recommended again. The next was supposed to be Danger, a Telugu movie, which looking at the cover I thought might be like Kal or Blair Witch Project (1 or 2). So upon my room-mate's suggestion we switched to Blade 2. Being a Wesley Snipes movie, I knew it would at least be entertaining. But it was thoroughly enjoyable - a fast paced movie that always makes you know what happens next. The next two movies in the pipeline - danger ( I hope it is not like Kaal or any of the Blair Witch Project movies) and Predator 2. The last, I have already seen. Its not close to Predator 1. But its entertaining none-the-less.

Shrimp Curry and Rice

In: Cooking

Ingredients:
  • Tiger Shrimps (half pound)
  • Onions (1 large will do)
  • Tomatoes (2 small)
  • Ginger (as per taste)
  • Garlic (6 cloves)
  • Green chillies (2 small)
  • Chilli powder (half tablespoon)
  • Coriander powder (half tablespoon)
  • Salt (as per taste)
  • Cocunut milk (half a cup)
  • Oil (2 tablespoons)
  • Water (half a cup)
The Process:

** Thanks to Suhas for the recipe and the cooking. He made the shrimp curry that you see in the photo above.

1. Finely chop the onion and the tomatoes. Also chop/crush the garlic and the ginger and the green chillies.

2. Take a large pan and put in the oil. Once the oil is sufficiently heated up, put the onions.

3. When the onions turn brownish, put in the ginger and the garlic and the tomatoes. Wait until the tomatoes are cooked.

4 . Then put in the remaining chilli powder and the coriander powder. Also add the salt.

5. Wait for a five minutes, then put in the shrimps and half a cup of water.Add the coconut milk. Wait until the shrimps are well cooked.

And the spicy shrimp curry is done! It goes well with steamed rice. Enjoy!

Hello from Portland, Oregon

In: ,

Blogging from Portland, Oregon. Arrived here late, reaching my hotel just around midnight. This is my first visit here. From the Light Rail (very similar to the one in Newark, NJ) the streets, the coffee shops, the pubs, all of it brought back memories of Boston and NYC, especially Boston. Saw the Rose Garden - home of the Portland Trail Blazers - from the Light Rail. But the Blazers aren't playing at home while I'm here. May be next time...

Anakokndu Oka Raju

A Telugu movie I just finished watching. Loosely translated, it means one unknown day. A story about a girl who goes to a party Friday night and wakes up on the following Sunday morning without knowing what happened the entire time in between. An interesting movie indeed. Kaagar, Seven Samurai and Throne of Blood are next movies on the list. Kaagar is supposed to be based on the life of "encounter specialist" Daya Nayak. Busy movie-watching days ahead!
