Ministry of Blues playing at the Unwind Center, Bangalore

Ministry of Blues, who gave a great performance at The Great Indian October Fest, last week will be performing again at the Unwind Center, Bangalore on Saturday, Nov 26th, 2005. They play Blues Rock. At the concert last week, they played (among others) Jimmy Hendrix, Cream, Doobie Brothers and Stevie Ray Vaughan. If you are in Bangalore on the 26th, I highly recommend it.

Concerts at The Great Indian October Fest

Parousia started with 'Pull me Under' by Dream Theater. Did an amazing job with it. Some of the other songs they played were Black Magic (played by Reb Bach in 'Guitars that ruled the world'), Candlelight Fantasia (Symphony X), Some times I feel like Screaming and Highway Star (Deep Purple).

Then Galeej Gurus (Naveen - the lead guiarist for Parousia - played with them as well) did a sound check with a Lenny Kravitz song (don't remember which). After that they played Black Rose and Never Before (Deep Purple). Soon after that it started raining and the show had to be cut short. Too bad I think 'cause they were really playing well.

The next day (12 Nov, 2005), Ministry of Blues played some great Blues Rock. They did a sound check with Coming Back to Life (Pink Floyd). They played the song again in their main set. Other songs they played were: Roadhouse Blues (The Doors), When a Blind Man cries (Deep Purple), Long Train Running (Doobie Brothers) and Hey Joe (Jimmy Hendrix) and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

The headline act on the 12th was Moksha. They started with Be Quick or be Dead (Iron Maiden) and ended with Fear of the Dark (Iron Maiden), which was the popular demand of course. In between they played apart from some originals, some Deep Purple (Storm Bringer and Perfect Strangers), Pink Floyd (Comfortably Numb), Van Halen, Extreme (Cupid's Dead), White Snake. They also played Nothing Else Matters (Metallica) and No Leaf Clover (Metallica).

On Sunday (13th Nov, 2005), the rock concert opened with the Lounge Piranhas. They played mostly originals. But did a nice cover of Britney Spears' Baby One More Time. On popular demand, they did the number again at the end. :-)

Next was Thermal and a Quarter. What can I say? They started with Shine on you Crazy Diamond (Pink Floyd). The performance was amazing. Over the next couple of hours during which they played a lot of originals, they also played a wonderful rendition of Roxanne (Police), Imagine (Lennon), Wild World (Cat Stevens).

Some photos of the concerts can be found on the my Flickr site here.

This was my first Indian rock concert experience and I loved it. And if you get a chance to attend a concert by an Indian Rock band, I suggest you don't miss that opportunity. You will be pleasantly surprised by them.

And on a related issue, I heard Alice in Chains for the first time (don't know how it took me so long) over the weekend. A friend recommended their MTV Unplugged album. Thought it was pretty amazing. I am going to be hearing a lot of their music over the next few days.
